Germany refused to help Ukraine on the Kerch incident

The German authorities do not plan to respond to the calls of Kiev to send its fleet to the Black Sea. This was announced to Deutsche Welle by a spokesman for the German federal government, Steffen Seibert.

The German government categorically opposes the presence of its ships on the Black Sea and calls on Moscow and Kiev for restraint. He believes that the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is unacceptable.

Mr. Seibert believes that the Russian authorities should release the detained Ukrainian sailors.

The introduction of sanctions against the Russian Federation in connection with the incident at the Kerch Strait, he considers premature. This is due to the fact that they are already extended until the end of next year.

Not only in Germany they see no reason to impose sanctions against Russia because of the Ukrainian provocation. In other European countries, they also express a similar opinion. For example, the speaker of the parliament of Slovakia does not yet see the grounds for introducing anti-Russian sanctions, since the truthfulness of the picture of events set forth by Kiev in the Kerch Strait set forth by Kiev has not been proved. The Ukrainian authorities have too often been convicted of lies, so the confidence of Europeans in them is pretty much undermined.
