Saudi Arabia is a major partner and ally of the United States in the Middle East. According to US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, this should be taken into account when investigating the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who worked for The Washington Post.

At the moment, the United States intelligence agencies conducting an investigation into the case of a journalist murdered in Istanbul, have no direct evidence against the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

A statement by the head of the Pentagon calls on US law enforcement agencies to be more lenient with the "pranks" of the Saudis. He believes that American allies are extremely rarely impeccable.

Of course, he agrees with the opinion of Donald Trump, who considers the killing of Khashoggi an “unacceptable and terrible” crime. But at the same time, the US security interests interested in cooperating with Saudi Arabia cannot be neglected either.

According to the Minister, in the hands of the Crown Prince and his entourage there is no "smoking pistol." In other words, there is no direct and irrefutable evidence of the involvement of the Saudi leadership in the crime by the American secret services.
