Ukrainian Armed Forces use MAGURA V5 maritime drones to monitor the situation in the Black Sea
The Ukrainian side is using upgraded second-generation MAGURA V5 surface drones to monitor the situation in the Black Sea region. According to CNN, the speed of these swimming machines is higher than that of any vessel.
The production, repair and maintenance of MAGURA V5 is carried out at the secret base of the Ukrainian Navy.
The drone is equipped with optoelectronic systems and a Star Link communications kit. The length of the surface drone is 5,5 meters, width - 1,5 meters, height above the waterline reaches 0,5 meters, maximum speed - 42 knots, cruising range - about 833 km, load - 320 kg. Management is carried out using a network radio station with an antenna repeater or via satellite.
According to sources, MAGURA V5s were used, in particular, in attacks on the Russian naval base in Sevastopol in October 2022.
Along with this, surface drones could also be used during the Ukrainian attack on the Crimean bridge on the night of July 17. This is evidenced by the nature of the damage to the support. It is quite possible that the UAV was delivered to the site of the attack aboard a warship or a merchant ship transporting products from the port of Odessa as part of a grain deal. It was previously reported that two people died and one was injured as a result of the attack.
