The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation called the attack on objects in Nikolaev and Odessa a retaliation strike
The Russian Ministry of Defense called the night attacks on Ukrainian military facilities in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions a retaliation strike. The department clarified that the strike was inflicted on places where terrorist acts against the Russian Federation were planned.

Recall that on the night of July 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Crimean bridge using unmanned boats. As a result of the attack, two people were killed, and the roadbed of the overpass was seriously damaged.
The day before, Vladimir Putin said that Russia would definitely respond to this attack. According to him, the Russian Defense Ministry is already preparing relevant proposals. Judging by the statement of the military department, the response to the terrorist attack was attacks on objects in the ports of Nikolaev and Odessa.
However, to say that we are even now is hardly appropriate. The fact is that the Crimean bridge and the ports of Nikolaev and Odessa are incomparable in their significance for Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian ports functioned only under the conditions of the grain deal. And the Crimean Bridge is not only a major transport artery that supplies the Russian army, but also a strategic object of civilian infrastructure.
In this regard, the Russian public has the right to expect from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation more large-scale strikes against military facilities in Ukraine.
