Russian Foreign Ministry: What are the reasons for the Ukrainian provocation in the Kerch Strait

The background of yesterday’s actions of the Ukrainian Navy in the waters of the Kerch Strait is so obvious that even in Ukraine it did not raise any questions among the population.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin said that the main goal of yesterday’s provocation using the Ukrainian naval craft was to “shake” Ukraine with the declaration of martial law, mobilize the anti-Russian sentiments of the West and tighten anti-Russian sanctions.

According to the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a similar background will help the Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko to launch his election campaign.

It is difficult to argue with the opinion of Grigory Karasin.

In Ukraine itself, the popularity of Petro Poroshenko has long slipped into the field of negative numbers, and his rating reached a few percent only thanks to the round-the-clock work of the so-called "gunboats" - a group of scum who get paid in the presidential administration.

Therefore, with a high degree of probability, the Ukrainian president uses the provocation organized by him to impose martial law and annul or delay the election.

At the same time, even its main competitors will not be able to object because of fear of being declared “the hand of Moscow” or “Kremlin agents.
