Russia - to the West: Turn off the Internet!
Crimean spring and its aftermath political the crisis in relation to Western “partners” put on the agenda the issue of cyber security of Russia. The situation was aggravated by unsubstantiated accusations of the so-called “Russian hackers” of allegedly cyber attacks on a number of European states.
The serious consequences of cyberattacks on state infrastructure can be seen in the update of the United States of America doctrine of national security, which gives the president the right to launch a nuclear strike in response to this kind of virtual impact. Vital power lines and communications are most vulnerable to hacker attacks.
Russia, along with the United States of America and China, is a member of the club of countries with a “full Internet cycle”. Over the past few years, a lot of work has been done to ensure the cybersecurity of our country. In 2014, the Russian Federation held so-called “digital exercises” to test the resilience of the Runet to malicious shutdown from outside. The Ministry of Communications developed a bill aimed at increasing the security of the state’s critical infrastructure; after numerous revisions and adjustments by the Ministry of Finance, it was submitted to public discussion. A segment of the Internet intended for the safe activities of Russian officials has already been created and is operating.
Interim results of this work are summed up by the adviser to the President of Russia on the development of the Internet German Klimenko:
In the event of an attempt to disconnect Runet, the online life of the country will not be paralyzed. The expert explains that in the event of an emergency emergency transition of the Russian Internet to a new technology the probability of failures is extremely high. But possible errors and failures will be eliminated, says German Klimenko. The most important, in his opinion, is a manifestation of understanding and patience on the part of Runet users to temporary difficulties. The presidential adviser predicts certain problems to those Russians who, despite the warning, continue to store data and host domains abroad. But in general, we can conclude that Russia has taken a big step towards ensuring the independence and security of its Internet segment.

By itself, there are no contraindications for hardware and software that we live normally, even if we are declared a war like the Crimean isolation
