The largest gas field will be developed by the Chinese

A holy place is never empty, and especially when it comes to developing one of the world's largest gas fields.

The French company Total, frightened by the sanctions of the US administration, as they say, “turned on the back” and left the project to develop the world's largest natural gas field “South Pars”, owned by Iran.

The amount of the contract that the French lost, according to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is $ 1 billion.

According to earlier agreements, the French company’s share of 50% passed to the Chinese gas producer CNPC, which had previously been a participant in the project with a 30% stake.

The head of the Iranian oil ministry, Bijan Zangane, in an interview with Iranian reporters, said that CNPC had already officially replaced Total, but had not yet begun work.

According to the Iranian minister, the situation will become clear soon after negotiations with a Chinese company.

Recall that US President Donald Trump, contrary to the opinion of other parties to the agreement on nuclear program with Iran, withdrew from the agreement and announced the resumption of sanctions against the Islamic Republic and those countries and companies that will trade with it.
