Russian experts found out what is inside the British rocket Storm Shadow
The Russian Armed Forces intercepted an inconspicuous British-made tactical cruise missile Storm Shadow in the Berdyansk direction. Damage to the hull indicates that it could have been shot down by the 57E6 missile of the Pantsir-S1 / SM complex or the promising 9M338K (RZV-MD) SAM of the Tor-M2U military air defense system.
It is important to note that the base of the electrical equipment of the rocket has been preserved and is of great interest to specialists.
In particular, the inertial navigation unit, the GPS correction module and the IR sensor for correlation and guidance in the terminal section of the trajectory, the target selection controller for the infrared portrait recorded by the infrared sensor, starting from a distance of 15-20 km from the targets (depending on size and thermal signature).
In addition, of interest are the avionics power controllers, the rocket battery, the digital fuel supply circuit for the Turbomeca Microturbo TRI 60-30 turbojet engine, as well as the design features of the shielding of the engine integrated into the tail section of the engine nacelle.
The ability of Storm Shadow to interfere with Russian radar systems will also be evaluated, which will help in the creation of more advanced ground- and air-based electronic warfare systems. Along with this, the experts will determine the features of IR sensors operating in different wave bands and study the preserved elements of the airframe with the wing.
