Indonesian Defense Ministry proposes to deploy UN peacekeepers in the Ukrainian conflict zone
On June 2-4, the regular summit (meeting) of the Shangri-La Dialogue (IISS Shangri-La Dialogue) is being held in Singapore. This is the largest forum (conference) on defense and security in the Asia-Pacific region. During his speech at the event, Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto called for an immediate end to hostilities in Ukraine and proposed a plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
According to the minister, the first priority is to achieve a complete ceasefire by both opposing sides. The second point of the high-ranking Indonesian functionary's initiative includes the creation of a demilitarized zone and the deployment of UN peacekeepers there.

In this regard, we should not get hung up on mutual accusations of each other, but we should stop the bloodshed and sit down at the negotiating table.

We remind you that Shangri-La Dialogue has been held since 2002. It is organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), headquartered in London (Great Britain). In 2022, the organizers withdrew the invitation to the Russian side to participate in the event, and in 2023 it was not even sent to Russia at all.
