Two new armies and two military districts to be formed in Russia in 2023
Two armies - combined arms and air, as well as two military districts - Moscow and Leningrad - will be formed in Russia in 2023. Colonel General Yevgeny Burdinsky, head of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, spoke about this in an article in the magazine of the Ministry of Defense "Military Commissariats of Russia".
Also, five divisions and 26 brigades will be created in the Russian Armed Forces.

The main task this year, according to Burdinsky, is the selection for military service under the contract, including registered units, as well as the fulfillment of the norm of conscription for military service.
As part of improving the preparation of military registration and enlistment offices for the mobilization of human and transport resources in different situations, 863 events of various levels and scales are planned.
The need to create two military districts this year - Moscow and Leningrad - was noted last year by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. He stressed that NATO is seeking to build up its potential along the Russian borders and expand into Finland and Sweden.
