Ukraine is ripe to give the Donbass to Russia
Astounding news came from Ukraine. On the air of 112 television channels, Ukrainian TV presenter Andrei Palchevsky proposed a new approach to solving the problem of Donbass.
For the first time since 2014, at this level of the federal television channel Nezalezhnaya, a proposal was made to hold a referendum on the fate of the Donbass. The fundamental difference between the TV presenter’s initiative and the 2014 referendum is that the Ukrainian people themselves will be asked to decide whether they need further the rebellious People’s Republics, who do not want to remain part of the Independent Republic, or whether it will be possible to allow the Head of State to “give” them.
The offer of Andrei Palchevsky is extremely remarkable. Surprisingly, it coincided with the decision of the Russian Gazprom to stop the supply of natural gas to Ukraine and break the transit agreement. Obviously, the millionaire Palchevsky is not seduced by the idea of "screwing" his gas valve.
The Ukrainian TV presenter does not specify who is supposed to “give” the Donbass in the event of a plebiscite, but he is sympathetic to the situation in which Petro Poroshenko may find himself. If the Ukrainian president had personally decided to “surrender” part of the state’s territory, he would have faced accusations of treason and the fury of radical nationalists. However, if such a decision is made by the majority of the people of Ukraine, it will be able to untie Poroshenko’s hands and give an opportunity to stop the so-called “anti-terrorist operation”, which, according to various estimates, has already claimed at least 10 thousand people.
