Surrender to Hamas: Israeli defense minister resigned

2
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, known for his tough stance in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, announced his resignation. His statement came after today's meeting of the Our Home Israel party, of which he is the leader.

Lieberman said that he took this step in protest against the suspension of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. He stated the following:

We buy silence for a very short time and pay for it with security for a long period.

He opposed the government’s decision on a ceasefire and called for new attacks on Hamas sites. This movement has been controlling the Gaza Strip for over 10 years. Lieberman criticizes the government’s decision, calling it "surrender in the face of terrorism."

It should be noted that the parties to the conflict strictly abide by the ceasefire agreement.

The ex-minister also proposed to hold early parliamentary elections. After his departure, the party headed by him, Our Home Israel Party, intends to withdraw from the ruling coalition. If this happens, the majority in parliament will not be so overwhelming and will comprise 61 out of 120 deputies.

According to Hamas spokesman Abu Zuhri, the resignation of Lieberman indicates the defeat of Israel.

Well, yes, hawks such as the Secretary of Defense can now do great harm not only to Palestine, but also to Israel. It’s better to negotiate than to fight.
