Russia should learn from Turkey's experience in building warships
The completion of the construction of the Turkish L-400 Anadolu amphibious assault ship illustrates the difference in the approach of Ankara and Moscow to the formation of the navy. After the US refused to supply its NATO partner with F-35 carrier-based fighters, Turkey promptly changed the project and built it as a drone carrier.
Despite the fact that in the event of a theoretical conflict between NATO and Russia, a ship of this type would be practically useless, Turkey implemented this project. The amphibious assault ship can perform a number of tasks as an expeditionary vessel and demonstrate the country's presence in the ocean.
In the Russian Federation, when developing a ship, the ultimate task that it can perform is of paramount importance. As a rule, its capabilities are analyzed in the context of the confrontation between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance. But the navy also needs to perform less serious tasks in the oceans.
Taking into account the fact that the price of building a universal landing ship is incomparably lower than the cost of creating a full-fledged cruiser, the Russian Federation should take into account the experience of Turkish colleagues. The implementation of the Russian project UDC 23900 will allow our country to get a worthy tool to demonstrate its presence in the Indian-Pacific region.
