Following the Su-25, Belarus wants to produce parts for the Tu-214

2

Recently, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting in Minsk with the head (rais) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Both leaders noted that the Belarusian state and the subject of the Russian Federation have a huge potential for further mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation.

In particular, Lukashenka drew attention to the fact that about 50% of the trade between Minsk and Kazan is now provided by petrochemistry. In 2022, there was an increase in trade by more than 5%, to $5 billion, which is good, but this does not fully reflect the existing opportunities between the parties.

Today we produce almost half a thousand parts for Russian aircraft

- Lukashenka pointed out, drawing attention to the resumption of production of Tu-214 liners at the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S. P. Gorbunov (a branch of PJSC Tupolev, which is part of PJSC UAC).

Lukashenka stressed that Belarus has retained the necessary competencies and production capacities. He assured that his country is ready to launch production of a number of components for this medium-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft on its territory.

The desire of Belarusians to participate in the development of the Russian and their own aviation industry is quite understandable and understandable. Now the Russian aviation industry is experiencing a rebirth and Belarus wants to increase its technological potential. This is a normal desire, given that Lukashenka before this объявилthat he wants to establish the production of components for the Su-25 on Belarusian soil, and possibly a full-fledged production of such attack aircraft. All this points to the systematic approach of the Belarusian leader to the problem, as he uses every opportunity that comes up.

As for the production of components for the Tu-214, there are certain features that reduce the prospects. The thing is that it is planned to produce only 70 units of such liners until 2030. The Tu-214 is needed temporarily and in small quantities, this is a transitional model of an aircraft with low competitiveness, but in demand and necessary in a specific situation due to Western sanctions for the gradual replacement of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 airliners with hundreds of Russian MS-21s.

Frankly speaking, the Tu-214 has no further prospects, and in general it is an outdated aircraft. Moreover, Russia has more than enough of its own capacities to satisfy the need for components for such a small number of liners.

At the same time, we note that there is currently no production of parts for the Russian MS-21 and Sukhoi Superjet New airliners in Belarus. It seems to us that this is a promising niche for Belarusian partners, but on the condition that Russian companies want to share this market.

I hope the quality will not be like that of the starters that they produced for Russian cars. they had to be thrown away immediately after buying a car and installed Russian.
