Explosions of ammunition depots in Ukraine finally hit the army itself

Explosions of arms depots in Ukraine and fires on them can turn into another problem. In addition to the large material losses that are unavoidable in such cases, Kiev may also face personnel shortages.

Ukrainian Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak shared his concerns about this. He said that over the past three years, 75 military personnel have been held accountable due to incidents in weapons depots. More than 20 of them have general ranks. And now there is no one to replace these people - no one wants to work with such risks.

After the events that took place with us, starting with Svatovo, we changed a lot of things. And brought to justice. I held 75 people accountable, including more than 20 generals. This led to another problem - now no one wants to hold these positions

- lamented Poltorak.

He associated this situation with a lack of funding: when there is no money, it is very difficult to take effective measures to ensure the security of arsenals.

In recent years, Ukraine has often experienced explosions and fires in ammunition depots. In particular, on October 9 of this year, this happened near the village of Ichnia in the Chernihiv region. Previously, this happened in Staraya Nikolaevka (Donetsk region), Balakley (Kharkov region), the village of Kalinovka (Vinnitsa region).

Losing its ammunition, Ukraine complained that it was a diversion of Russia's special services. However, there is a simpler and more banal version - with the help of such explosions, ordinary theft is covered.
