“It's insulting”: Trump reacted to Europe’s plans to create an army

US President Donald Trump not only criticized the idea of Paris to create a pan-European army, but also found it offensive to himself and to the United States. The idea itself was voiced by French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to Macron, Europe needs a common army in order to protect itself from Russia, China, and also from the USA. On November 6, on the air of Europe 1 radio station, the French leader put forward this proposal during a conversation on the US withdrawing from the Treaty on Medium and Shorter Range Missiles (INF Treaty). As you know, even the European allies of Washington do not like this decision.

Of course, the words that Europe needed to defend itself, including from the United States, could not please Trump. There is another aspect: the American president often criticizes his NATO partners for making, in his opinion, too little contribution to the financing of the North Atlantic Alliance. It was at this point that the US president emphasized.

Very offensive, but perhaps Europe must first pay its fair share in NATO, which the US subsidizes!

- Trump said in his microblog on the social network Twitter.

The adventurous desire to break the INF Treaty threatens Washington not only with an escalation of tension with Russia, but also with the fact that Europe, seeing the dangers of the American policy for himself, will be removed further and further. And the offended pose is unlikely to help here.
