France started buying LNG for yuan

2

For the first time, a deal was made on the Shanghai Stock Exchange to sell liquefied natural gas for yuan. The Chinese state-owned national oil corporation CNOOC and the French company TotalEnergies, which acted as the buyer, took part in the sale of the LNG consignment. This was reported by the Business Times and Reuters agencies.

The exchange said in a statement that 65 tons of gas from the United Arab Emirates were sold.

CNOOC is the third largest gas corporation in China after CNPC and Sinopec, which once again illustrates the desire of Beijing and other countries to move away from the dominance of the dollar in the purchase and sale of energy resources. CNOOC was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in Beijing. The corporation is engaged in oil and gas production in offshore China and in other countries, as well as the sale and processing of energy resources.

TotalEnergies operates in 130 countries of the world, producing oil and gas in Asia, Africa, Europe and overseas.

Meanwhile, Russia and the Chinese company CNPC sell gas for rubles and yuan in equal proportions. This was stated by Vladimir Putin during the Eastern Economic Forum in September last year. According to the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, such a payment mechanism is beneficial for both parties and a practical solution that will simplify further payments.

If the renminbi is included in the SDR basket and you can pay for any goods around the world, then what is the reason for the PRC to have “dead” banknotes of the Russian Federation?
