Will OPEC dissolve amid Russia’s friendship with the Saudis?

In Saudi Arabia, they began a study on the dissolution of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). This was reported by the American edition of the Wall Street Journal. The study of the issue was undertaken by the King Abdullah Oil Research Center.

In parallel with these Saudi studies, the United States is drafting a bill allowing the US judiciary to consider antitrust lawsuits against OPEC countries and other oil producing states.

The head of the Research Center, Adam Seminsky, claims that their developments are in no way connected with US legislative initiatives.

At the same time, the past two years have been filled with close Russian-Saudi cooperation in the oil industry. The coordinated actions of the two countries allow us to influence the oil market and its prices. The cooperation of the OPEC + countries, in which Russia and Saudi Arabia played a key role, has shown the effectiveness of such cooperation. This agreement to limit oil production has significantly increased world oil prices.

There is also a version that the study on the dissolution of OPEC is associated with a possible upcoming drop in oil demand on a global scale.
