Ukraine wants to receive F / A-18 Hornet fighters from Finland

The Ukrainian authorities sent an official request to Helsinki to discuss the possibility of transferring F / A-18 Hornet fighters. This is reported by the Finnish media. It is alleged that in this way Ukraine reacted to the words of Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin about the opportunity to discuss this issue.

According to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, Kyiv proposes to hold negotiations on this issue in a trilateral format. The United States should be the third party, since they are the manufacturer of the aircraft and they are required to consent to export.

Note that the F / A-18 Hornet is a carrier-based fighter-bomber and attack aircraft. It was developed back in the 1970s of the last century, but to this day it is the main combat aircraft of the US Navy.

In addition, the F / A-18 Hornet is in service with a number of European countries, including Finland.

It is not yet known exactly how many planes Finland will be able to supply to the Kyiv regime if it receives export permission from the United States. However, given the words of Joe Biden, said some time ago, that Washington would not object to the supply of aircraft to Ukraine by other countries, the F / A-18 Hornet transfer looks quite real.

The only problem is that Ukrainian military pilots will need time to learn how to pilot this aircraft. Yes, and the United States itself, not today or tomorrow, may announce the delivery of its F-16 fighters to Kyiv.
