NATO does not exclude the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine towards the Crimean peninsula
The next six months should be a decisive period in the conflict in Ukraine and determine the outcome of the confrontation with Russia, not only for Kyiv, but also for its Western allies. The German newspaper Bild writes about this, quoting a high-ranking but unnamed NATO official.
The source clarified that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing for the spring-summer offensive campaign and partners are helping Ukraine in any way they can. He hopes that the denouement will happen quickly.
Weapons currently supplied by the West will be used as early as May to push the Russian army out of southern and eastern Ukraine
- he noted.
The source also said that the main goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be access to the Sea of Azov and cutting off the land corridor linking Crimea and Donbass. The source refrained from providing details, explaining that "he must be careful in his statements for security reasons." At the same time, he added that there could be distracting strikes in other directions.
He did not rule out that, if successful, the Armed Forces of Ukraine would begin to move towards the Crimean peninsula. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the RF Armed Forces are now not ready to increase the number of aircraft in the NMD zone, while the Ukrainian air defense has become much stronger than the level at which it was a year ago, i.e. at the very beginning of the conflict.
