Russian life in China is becoming more complicated, but they don’t want to return

2
In recent years, China has become one of the most popular emigration destinations for our compatriots. Most Russians choose China only as a place of study or work, and then, after several years, they return to their homeland.

Now about 40-50 thousand people live in China. The bulk of Russians are concentrated in large cities - university and industrial centers. This is Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou. In addition, many Russians live in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR), which is an important transit point from China to Kazakhstan and Russia.

Once the city of Harbin was called Russian. Now he does not justify this name at all. There are more Russians in Shanghai or Beijing. Few Russians are in the border areas. Those pensioners from the Far East who moved to China some time ago are now not in a very good position - their pensions in terms of yuan have decreased quite significantly.

If we talk about Russian labor migrants, then Chinese law allows the migration of qualified specialists. Professors and associate professors of universities, engineers, programmers in China really live in good conditions and earn a lot. They have no problems with a work permit. But representatives of such professions as waiters, bartenders, dancers feel less confident. China is pretty tough on issuing visas. For example, an unmarried girl who is not a highly qualified specialist can instantly be denied a visa only because Chinese officials suspect the purpose of her visit as prostitution.

But qualified specialists are not free from problems. For example, housing rental prices in large cities in China are rising. If the housing is not provided by the company or university that has invited to work, then the labor migrant finds himself in a difficult situation. For example, in Beijing you can pay a thousand dollars or more for renting a one-room apartment. Quality education for children of foreign citizens is also very expensive.

However, despite all the difficulties, the Russians do not seek to return to their homeland. Why are they so sweet Celestial?

At first, in large Chinese cities the level of comfort, organization of urban space, infrastructure is really very high. In this regard, the cities of China are very favorably different from Russian.

SecondlyIt is believed that living in China is safer. In general, this is indeed so - tough laws, efficiently working police and the general level of discipline of the population explain a lower crime rate than in Russia.

Thirdly, over the years of study and life in China, many Russians mentally "Sinized", it is difficult for them to get used to the style of communication and behavior that is inherent in the population of our country.

An important role is played by the impossibility of employment in Russia with a diploma of a Chinese university. And in China they still pay qualified specialists more, and the labor market, especially for representatives of modern professions, provides much more ambitious opportunities.

If you talk about political In the interests of our country in China, the Russian diaspora in any case contributes to a closer Russian-Chinese dialogue, allows it to exert a certain influence on Russian-Chinese relations.
