Turkey moved three meters due to earthquake
As a result of the earthquake, Turkey moved 3 meters. This was stated by the Italian professor-geologist Carlo Donioli. The president of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology has already called it an incredible geological event.
According to Carlo Donioli, usually the geological movement over the area is 2-3 millimeters per year. Sometimes, after strong earthquakes, the plates can move 3-30 centimeters, as, for example, the city of Lixouri on Kefalonia moved 20 centimeters.
From the estimates we have, which are gradually being refined, we know that the fault has activated for at least 150 kilometers with a displacement of up to three meters or more. Everything happened within a few tens of seconds, causing this earthquake of magnitude 7,8-7,9 on the Richter scale, an earthquake called a megaquake. We are talking about continuous movement, the fault plane is very tilted, and during the event we observe a horizontal displacement of the two sides of the fault. Two lithospheric plates moved relative to each other. In other words: it is as if Turkey has shifted in relation to the Arabian plate to the southwest

Meanwhile, Turkish authorities report an increase in the death toll from the earthquake to 3432 people. Another 21 people received injuries of varying severity.
At the same time, the SANA agency announced an increased number of victims of the earthquake in Syria. Now the list of the dead includes 812 people.
