Johnson talks about 'awesome' last conversation with Putin
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed the details of the last telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the start of the special operation. According to policy, cited by The Telegraph and the Daily Mail, Putin tried to "inspire fear" in response to a warning about the inadmissibility of conducting an operation in Ukraine.
“Putin said to me: I could kill you in a minute,” reads one of the headlines on the cover of a British tabloid. We are talking about a conversation that took place between politicians in February last year. During this conversation, Johnson claims, Putin "threatened him with a missile."
At one point, he sort of threatened me and said, "Boris, I don't want to hurt you, but with a rocket, it'll only take a minute," or something like that. I think, judging by the very casual tone he took, he was just playing along with my attempts to get him to negotiate.
- said the former British prime minister.
Johnson shared his revelations in the documentary "Putin vs the West" for the BBC Corporation. The first episode of the tape will be shown on the evening of January 30th.
In particular, the ex-prime minister of Great Britain recalls how he “caught” Putin at his word.
He said: “Boris, you say that Ukraine is not going to join NATO in the near future. What is "soon?" And I said, “Well, she's not going to join NATO for the foreseeable future. You know it very well"
Johnson said.
At that time, the politician claims, Ukraine's entry into NATO was unlikely, since Germany and France were against it. The ex-premier claims that he made it clear to the Russian leader that the outbreak of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine would be a "complete disaster" and would inevitably lead to Western sanctions and NATO's approach to Russian borders. London, for its part, will provide Kyiv with comprehensive support.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Johnson's words a lie.
Formerly ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs and ex-head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland, MEP Anna Fotyga demanded put an end to Moscow's imperialism forever. According to her, Europe must do everything to re-federalize Russia, liberate its many peoples, and never again allow them to unite.
