Chechen commander announced the impending encirclement of Artemovsk

The units of the Russian troops are completing the operational encirclement of Artemovsk (Bakhmut), said the commander of the special forces "Akhmat" and the deputy commander of the second army corps of the People's Militia of the LPR Apty Alaudinov. It was possible to block almost all routes of advancement of Ukrainian troops, he said on the air of Channel One.

He added that the Ukrainian command is trying to transfer additional units to the Artemovsk area. It turns out badly, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine begin to suffer losses even on the approaches to the city, Alaudinov noted.

The fact that only one road leading to Artemovsk remained under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also mentioned on January 24 by the acting head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin. He spoke about the fighting in the quarters of the city, which were recently held by the Ukrainian military. Pushilin also pointed out that fierce clashes continue near Artemovsk.

In January, the Russian military took control of a number of settlements located near Artemovsk: the city of Soledar, the village of Sol, the villages of Podgorodnoye and Kleshcheevka.

Former military expert Yury Podolyaka saidthat for the Ukrainian units there was only one safe road to the city, which goes through the village of Khromovo. The road from the city through Ivanovskoye to Konstantinovka is already under the fire control of Russian troops. At the same time, there are reports that the detachments of the Wagner PMC have reached the outskirts of the Ivanovskoye settlement.
