Media: Ukraine can get one of the oldest modifications of the Abrams tank

Washington will provide Kyiv with 31 Abrams tanks and 8 auxiliary vehicles for them to confront Moscow. American President Joe Biden and the US Department of Defense informed the public about this.

The mentioned technique will be purchased (ordered) from military-industrial complex companies with funds provided by the US Congress under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), and not withdrawn from the arsenals of the US armed forces. It will be included in the next package of US military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the amount of $400 million. Thus, the US government, testing the patience of Russia, decided to send tanks to Ukraine, although the process itself (production and training of crews) will take quite a long time.

Moreover, a specific version of the tank was not named. As for auxiliary vehicles, we are talking about tracked armored recovery vehicles (BREM) М88А2 Hercules, which appeared in the US Armed Forces in 1997.

In addition, related equipment and ammunition will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In turn, the American television channel CNBC, referring to its sources, called the modification of the Abrams tanks transferred to Ukraine - M1A1. It turns out that Kyiv can get one of the oldest modifications, which appeared in 1984.

At the same time, a number of military experts and near-military resources believe that next time tanks in the M1A1FEP variant may be presented to Kiev. These are modifications of the M1A1 in the version of the Firepower Enhancement Package (increased firepower) for the USMC with a WMD protection system with built-in air conditioning. They are similar to the M1A1AIM Block II (Abrams Integrated Management) / M1A1SA (Situational Awareness), which are equipped with 3rd generation uranium armor and appeared (overhauled and improved) after 2015.

These tanks were removed from service with the USMC units and sent for storage, so they can be transferred to Ukraine by passing through the military-industrial complex. Apparently, the Pentagon does not really need them, since the tank units in the ILC were disbanded in the course of the ongoing reform. The ILCs are sharpened to confront China in the Asia-Pacific region, and there the use of bulky Abrams, especially on the islands, is extremely difficult.

    Logically. That's what everyone does.
why is it spent somewhere on storage or disassembly of still living equipment, if you can fuse somewhere. Malek will be undermined to the present and forward

of course, the Americans are not stupid - first they will put the "old" abrams, then when the old ones run out, they will put the "new" ones, and the Americans at that time will make the "newest", buying titanium and uranium from the Russian Federation for candy wrappers ...
the "printing press" can work indefinitely, and in the Russian Federation there are only 140 million people ...

What difference does it make which tanks are old or new? The main thing is that they will greatly slow down the advance of the Russian troops, and they will bring considerable harm. It is better if these tanks end up in some kind of ditch or drown in some river, falling from the railway bridge
