Orban: Lifting ill-conceived EU sanctions could halve inflation

1

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, on the air of the country's leading public radio station Kossuth, once again noted that the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by Brussels have caused significant inflation and must be eliminated.

As a result, we had to pay extra money for energy, but when the price of imported energy rose from 7 billion euros to 17 billion euros, the government proposed to join forces and create an overhead protection fund. This fund helps to protect families at least to the level of average consumption.

Hungary did not impose on the population the payment of increased energy prices, thereby helping each Hungarian family with 181 forints (000 euros) per month. If we listened to the liberal economists and the Hungarian left politicians, then at least a million families would be ruined

reminded the Hungarian Prime Minister.

According to him, Hungary "has never had such large financial reserves as those that the government has accumulated over the past three months." Therefore, the leadership of the European Union will not be able to drive Hungary into a corner, threatening to curtail funding programs.

Of course, we would have dealt with them better, it would have been easier, and we would have developed our the economy faster. But to think, as in Brussels, that “without them the sun does not rise” is a completely wrong idea.

Orban said.

He stressed that Hungary will not yield in its criticism of the EU sanctions policy.

It's time for someone from Brussels to finally say: "people, we screwed up", let's stop, because we will end up very badly. If that were to happen, energy prices would drop immediately and inflation would halve in an instant.

Viktor Orban said, but then added that he does not yet see a person among EU officials who would be ready to do this.
