Tagesspiegel: Vladimir Putin led the march of dictators against democracy
The German publication Der Tagesspiegel believes that traditional Western democracy is now under threat. On the one hand, liberal values are being damaged by dictators and authoritarian rulers in a number of countries, and on the other hand, supporters of democracy have to resist European and American populists.
According to the newspaper, Russian President Vladimir Putin is leading the attack against democratic principles. A squad of fighters with Western values, according to Tagesspiegel, looks somewhat unexpected.

The newspaper accuses the leaders of Russia and China of ignoring Western norms and trying to resolve issues with the help of weapons. Relying on the resources of their large countries and the strength of the Armed Forces, they are trying to impose their point of view on the rest of the world.
External threats to the collective West are complemented by internal ones that come from authoritarian leaders. Many of them build their own political career, according to the analyst of the publication, on populism. The anti-liberal statements of the Hungarian leader or former US President Trump have provided them with sufficient popularity and high positions in their countries. If these people are re-elected, the liberal scenario for the development of European society will be under serious threat.
