The court put an end to the case of Alexander Leshkov
A verdict was passed on the mobilized serviceman Alexander Leshkov, who hit Lieutenant Colonel Denis Mazanov. According to the court's verdict, the accused will spend 5,5 years in a strict regime colony.
Recall that the case received a wide response and was taken under control by the Human Rights Council of Russia. During a military review of those mobilized on November 13 in the Patriot park near Moscow, the drafted private Alexander Leshkov came into conflict with Lieutenant Colonel Denis Mazanov, during which he hit the commander.
Three days later, the Odintsovo military court arrested Leshkov and sent him to a pre-trial detention center for two months. The actions of the mobilized person were qualified under Part 2 of Article 336 (“Insulting a Serviceman”) and Part 3 of Article 334 (“Forcible Actions Against a Chief”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The commission of such acts during the period of mobilization or in the conditions of an armed conflict is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to fifteen years.
The court turned out to be quite lenient towards Alexander Leshkov, since he determined the punishment according to the lower bar provided for by the article of the Criminal Code. The court's decision could be influenced by the remorse of the defendant and his apologies to the injured lieutenant colonel.
