Since the end of December, the Ukrainian armed forces have suffered huge losses near Bakhmut (Artemivsk). The largest number of wounded and dead is noted in the 61st infantry, 24th mechanized and 57th motorized infantry brigades fighting in the area of the village of Podgornoye, the northeastern part of the T-1302 highway and Shchedraya and Lumumba streets.

The task of these formations is to confront the military personnel of the Wagner PMC, who destroy the AN / TPQ-50 counter-battery radars placed by Ukrainians on the roofs of multi-storey buildings with Lancet loitering ammunition and ATGM fire.

On December 20, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation established fire control over the suburban sections of Yuzhnaya and Mariupolskaya streets. Ukrainian militants are forced to withdraw deep into the residential areas of the city.

South of Bakhmut, in the areas of Opytny and Kleshcheevka, the “Wagnerites” successfully attacked the 30th and 53rd mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as parts of the 109th battalion of the territorial defense, the battalions of Sheikh Mansur and the Georgian Legion. Since December 25, the 63rd Mechanized Brigade and the 71st Jaeger Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have suffered heavy losses.

The total losses of Ukrainian formations in this direction are about 850 people per week, which corresponds to the strength of a combined arms battalion. In a number of areas, Ukrainians lose up to a hundred people every day. The largest number of wounded and killed falls on mobilized soldiers who do not have combat experience.
