Putin signed a decree on sanctions against Ukraine

October 22, 2018 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decree on the application of special measures in relation to Ukraine. Even such a statesman as Putin, famous for his calm and literally Olympic calm, ran out of patience.

Kiev scoffed with impunity over Russia, its citizens and companies, as well as personally over the country's leader for more than 4 years. And now Moscow has decided to fight back. Better later than never.

All these years, the Ukrainian authorities unceremoniously violated international law, imposed various restrictions, sanctions (the last time in August 2018), arrested courts, disrupted the work of banks, and committed other unfriendly acts, including overt provocations. Ukraine even recognized Russia as an “aggressor country." Now it will be necessary to answer for it.

The Russian leader instructed the government to determine the appropriate list to which sanctions will be applied. But Russia is ready to cancel them as soon as Ukraine ceases its illegal activities.

However, while the regime that came to power after the galloping Maidan is in charge of Kiev, the attitude towards Russia there is unlikely to change. But it is likely that now many Ukrainian officials and “patriots” will at least become more attentive to what they are doing and saying.
