US preparing to withdraw from WTO

America and its interests above all. This rule should be adopted by everyone who wants to cooperate with the United States in any field. The Americans will always do only what is beneficial to them, changing the rules of the game as they see fit.

As you know, after the end of World War II, the United States of America actively participated in the development of an agreement on tariffs and trade - the GATT, which in 1995 was transformed into the World Trade Organization (WTO). The American industry, which had grown enormously on military orders, needed new sales markets, which Europe and Asia, which had suffered from the Second World War, became. Then the WTO rules, namely, the principles of free trade, completely satisfied the United States and corresponded to their interests.

But after the end of the Cold War, caused by the collapse of the Soviet Union, the situation changed radically. American corporations have taken manufacturing outside the United States of America because of its high cost domestically. China and a number of countries in Southeast Asia, which provided American corporations with cheap labor instead of the high-paying American, benefited most from such “optimization”. For decades, corporations have profited from the exploitation of cheap labor by Asian workers. But over time, it became clear that the principle of free trade harmed the States themselves. In fact, the country itself was left without its own industry, with the possible exception of arms.

With the election of President Donald Trump, the so-called "Imperials" or "industrialists" came to power in the United States, the purpose of which was to return home previously withdrawn industries. President Trump has already made a number of remarks against the World Trade Organization:

The WTO makes doing business for the United States nearly impossible. WTO is a disaster

In March 2017, the White House warned that it intends to ignore WTO decisions that it considers harmful to the United States. Donald Trump is considering withdrawing from several trade agreements and a sharp increase in import duties. The United States has already increased the import duty on timber from neighboring Canada and is preparing to do the same for steel imports from 11 countries, including the Russian Federation.

To summarize, I would like to recommend that the Russian authorities take an example from American colleagues in the matter of upholding their own national interests. And also do not forget that any agreements with the United States will be valid as much as they will be interesting to the United States themselves, and not a second more.
