How Vnesheconombank Saves Russian Microelectronics

2
In August 2016, the Russian company Angstrem-T cheerfully announced the beginning of the development of its own microcircuits for various processors, smart cards and other products that generally use chips. In Washington, this information was very carefully, for some time, "digested." Then, in September 2016, the United States struck the most painful industry for Russia - microelectronics.

Then, a number of Russian firms fell under sanctions, and Angstrem-T was among them. It is not difficult to guess that after this, American firms ceased to deal with them. This is where Angstrom-T’s problems started, as it was based on American ones Technologybuying various equipment from Advanced Micro Devices, and a license for the manufacture of microchips from IBM.

Angstrem-T even took a loan from Vnesheconombank (VEB) for 815 million euros for the construction of an enterprise in Zelenograd. The plant was built, but its load was extremely low. Since it was outdated by the time it was opened, the market for microcircuits using the technology of 90-130 nm (nanometers) had greatly decreased by this time. Angstrem-T worked at a loss, so it was not able to proceed with the repayment of debt to the bank.

Now VEB must pick up the plant to pay off the debt. After that, VEB promises to start manufacturing chips using 28 nm technology, which are currently present in the products of companies such as Apple, Samsung, Sony and others. So there is hope that Russian microelectronics will be saved.

I think that the United States will soon itself need the latest world technologies simply because the outflow of specialists from Japan, Korea, Europe, Russia to the United States will stop. Buying specialists from all over the world, Merikans created new technologies with their help. Soon this shop will stop for the Mericans.
