President of “Independent” Petro Poroshenko made a speech on Sophia Square in Kiev. There, several thousand people gathered for a schismatic "prayer" of the head of the UOC-KP Filaret. Poroshenko said that his country was not the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church and will not be in the future. He welcomed the decision of the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople to grant autocephaly to Ukraine.

According to the Ukropresident, the Moscow “annexation” of the Kiev Metropolis was declared illegal, allegedly at the end of the XNUMXth century. He expressed satisfaction that the Ukrainian Church would not obey the Russian Orthodox Church. Then he used a religious question in political in order to once again make attacks on Russia. So, he said that the problem of autocephaly is not limited to church life, but is a question of national security, statehood and independence. Moreover, it turns out that this is a geopolitical issue concerning the whole world, part of the "pro-European and pro-Ukrainian strategy."

Poroshenko believes that autocephaly is a question from the same line as Ukraine’s desire to become part of the European Union and NATO bloc, as well as withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States and renunciation of friendship with Russia. He congratulated the schismatics Filaret and Macarius on removing the anathema from them.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president called autocephaly one of the three "brands"from which "writhing Moscow."

Before the service, many Ukrainian media noted that people were driven to the event using an administrative resource. Simply put, state employees were brought on buses. And users of social networks from Melitopol said that they suggested paying 300 hryvnias for participating in this action. It is not surprising that the audience began to disperse before the fiery performance of Poroshenko.
