How Russian missiles broke American plans

Another country sent the United States with its desire to ban the purchase of weapons from Russia ... let’s say, very far and very specific. Washington’s next threats to “punish” for acquiring the most advanced Russian air defense systems, this time expressed to India, were powerless before Delhi’s desire to ensure the security of its own country. Like it or not, but the Russian S-400, it turns out, will be much more powerful than American sanctions ...

The most annoying thing for the USA is that this is not the first time in recent years. Turkey became the “first sign”, whose president decided to practically break off relations with “best friends and partners” who categorically did not want to see the Russian “Triumph” in the territory of the NATO member country. What they didn’t threaten: from the “irreversible consequences for military cooperation” to the application of the Law on Countering America’s Enemies through Sanctions (CAATSA).

It didn’t work, however ... The stubborn Erdogan stated that he “was not going to ask anyone for permission”, and wanted to sneeze on the fact that “it concerns some”. Ankara did not refuse the S-400 even after Washington launched a full-scale sanctions war against Turkey, during which everything possible was done to collapse economics of this country. Not going to this day, despite continued pressure.

In addition to the purely painful attitude of the United States to this issue, political There are also serious economic reasons for the reasons. Turkey, literally, until very recently was one of the most promising markets for the US military-industrial complex. To be completely specific, it is the third in the world (at least between 2012 and 2016). The army there is equipped with weapons and technique marked "Made in USA" almost completely.

And it’s not only about “trifles” like automatic rifles or even the same “Stingers”. For example, the Turkish Air Force is equipped with American fighters F-4 Phantom II and F-16. Artillery, tanks, helicopters ... But in the future it was planned to supply even more modern weapons - up to F-35 fighters! Nevertheless, Ankara preferred the Russian S-400, recognized today as the world's best anti-aircraft missile system. The blow for the American gunsmiths turns out to be double - both in the wallet and in the image.

However, the size of the Turkish army is a little more than half a million. Indian armed forces triple her! Accordingly, a country with the third-largest army and the seventh defense budget in the world is a much more attractive and promising market for Russian weapons. It is also because, by the way, that, unlike Ankara, Delhi was initially oriented towards Soviet and, later, Russian models of tanks, artillery and aviation. And the air defense systems there have traditionally been "ours." It is not surprising that the Indians wanted to get the most modern examples of these - especially given the feud with Pakistan, as well as India with nuclear weapons.

The United States, as soon as Delhi announced the "outrageous" plans to conclude a deal with Moscow to acquire the S-400 for $ 5 billion, immediately began to "pump the rights." Randall Shriver, adviser to the US Secretary of Defense for security in Asia and the Pacific, made a statement that India is likely to fall under US sanctions if it purchases weapons from Russia or defense systems "in excess." Which volumes are “excessive” will naturally be decided in Washington.

The answer followed, and obviously not the one that the Americans were counting on. General Bipin Ravat, chief of staff of the Indian Army, who recently visited Russia, confirmed his intention to purchase an air defense system and specified that most likely military cooperation with Russia would not be limited to them. Yes, Delhi is well aware of the possibility of imposing sanctions, but they do not intend to change the decisions made, since India is actually an independent state, and, accordingly, pursues an independent policy. Moreover, if someone doesn’t like it that much, then let him know: “The Indian military can stand up for what is important to them.” In a word, America was again asked not to meddle in their own business.

Will Washington go to the end in this matter? Probably yes. Against China and Turkey, after all, the purchase of all the same S-400 sanctions has already been introduced. What better India - to quarrel, so with all at once! In America, they prefer not to think about the fact that all these attempts lead to results directly opposite to those desired. Reduced to white heat by sanctions, Erdogan began to call for the creation of a united front to combat "US hegemony" - and in many countries these calls found understanding and support. Sometimes it seems that overseas everything is deliberately done to ensure that the anti-American front joins as many countries as possible with a huge population and rapidly developing economies.

So far, the threats and the “attacks” of the White House have taken effect except in Indonesia, they were so frightened of sanctions that they “froze” the contract for the supply of Russian Su-35s. Note - did not terminate and did not revise - just suspended. Obviously, they want to see how terrible punishment befall other "violators." One way or another, but without hitting a single enemy plane or missile in battle, the S-400 Triumph air defense systems have already become a powerful weapon that destroys the world order that America is so stubbornly and so awkwardly trying to defend.
