When Belarus will turn its back on Russia

2
After the departure of Ukraine with the Maidan in 2014, Belarus remained the last post-Soviet republic, which can be called truly fraternal. Our countries are united in the Union State, the defense industry is closely integrated. Large-scale joint military exercises are regularly held. Both Moscow and Minsk are members of the CSTO. Despite the occasional economic disputes, both countries interact quite effectively with each other.

This does not give rest to our common detractors, therefore, the probability of separation of Belarus from Russia according to the Ukrainian scenario is gradually increasing. This can be done, as usual, from the inside. To this end, the young generation of Belarusians is inspired with a beautiful tale of a satisfying and proper life in Europe, in contrast to the idea of eking out a miserable existence under the yoke of totalitarian Russia. As far as the realities of "European integration" coincide with the myths about it, citizens of Ukraine may well tell today.

As in Nezalezhnaya, Belarusian opponents of all Russian began with symbolism. For almost a quarter century, nationalists have been trying to achieve the installation of a memorial plaque by the date of formation of the so-called Belarusian People's Republic. The creators of the BNR at one time actively fought with communist ideas. The installation of the board was opposed, and we must pay tribute to him, President Alexander Lukashenko. And now a number of Belarusian deputies has collected signatures and proposed a bill that would allow the use of the white-red-white flag of the BNR along with the official state one. It is necessary to remind that during the Great Patriotic War this tricolor banner was raised by Belarusian collaborators who sided with Hitler.

So, attempts to heroize the nationalist movement in Belarus began a long time ago and continue to this day. As political scientists say, in their work, these socialpolitical forces rely on the support of the United States and several EU countries. It should be recognized that the nationalists received a certain impetus to the development of their ideas after the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia. Here is what Alexander Yanukevich, who heads such an organization, says:

An imperialist regime is sitting in the Kremlin that longs for the restoration of a bloody empire. Belarus is an independent country, Belarusians will not agree to any Anschluss. Our choice is independence.

In the view of such “Westerners”, in order to achieve complete happiness, Belarus needs to quickly leave the integration associations in the CIS and rush into the arms of Europe. Outside the brackets remains their clear desire to participate in the robbery that will begin due to the imminent collapse of the Belarusian economics after the severance of ties with Russia, which today is illustrated by the example of Ukraine.

As in Ukraine with its tales about ancient ukrov, Belarus also took up indulging in history, deriving its national identity from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which the Muscovites viciously destroyed. The fact that the ancestors of today's Belarusians were in a subordinate position to the Lithuanians is not accepted, it is instead proposed to restore the traditions of Lithuania-Belarus. The greatest holiday for them now is the victory of the Lithuanian hetman of Ostrog over the Russian army near Orsha.

The breeding ground for Russophobes in the Republic of Belarus is such a movement as “snobbery”. Its essence lies in the fact that you need to find in yourself everything Russian and eradicate it. His typical representative is the former lead singer of the Lyapis Trubetskoy band Mikhalk. His word:

I think it is necessary to equal the Balts, because they, too, have been under the yoke of a scoop for a long time and their experience in building a new state can be useful to all of us.

About how now everything is “chocolate” at the Baltic states, is constantly told in all details. But the trouble is that such nationalists do not sit idly by. They already walk along the streets with portraits of Shukhevych and Bandera, and come to the Donbass to shoot Russian as part of the well-wishers. Here is what they say:

We are all convinced that Ukraine will win and further the struggle for an independent Belarus awaits us. That is why we want to gain experience here.

The reference to the Baltic experience is very disturbing. Now Belarusian nationalists are not numerous, and the level of their support in society is not very high. But time goes on, the younger generation is growing up, which is being taught in the “right” way for grants, the media of the “necessary” political orientation are being developed with Western money and nationalist symbols are popularized. And then everything can instantly roll downhill:

In Tallinn, Riga, and Tbilisi in '87, too few people could have imagined that after a very short time by historical standards, they would begin to eradicate Russian-language education and oust the Russian language from everyday life.

So far, the situation is being kept under relative control. But the point of no return will be if Belarusian nationalism comes to the authorities, and the state begins to look at it through the fingers, and even more to encourage it.
