Cheap play at the UN: Russia squeezed the "Western partners"

On Saturday, February 24, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, resolution 2401 was unanimously adopted, providing for the establishment of a humanitarian pause in Syria. According to the document, a ceasefire is declared for at least 30 days, which, however, does not apply to such terrorist organizations as the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda and Jebhat al-Nusra (banned in the Russian Federation). In addition, the resolution provides for the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population and medical evacuation.

Before the adoption of this resolution, a serious fight broke out in the Security Council. First, Kuwait (currently chairing the UN Security Council), together with Sweden, submitted their ceasefire project. This happened on February 10th. But the document did not suit Russia, which considered it one-sided. The Russian Federation made amendments to the draft, which until recently Washington did not want to accept.

One such amendment is that a humanitarian pause should not prohibit the fight against the most radical of armed groups. The essence of the second consisted in the fact that it is impossible to establish a cease-fire with a mere declaration - negotiations are necessary directly “on the ground”. Russia constantly asked other UN Security Council members the question: how can they guarantee that terrorist groups will abide by the ceasefire?

The most important thing is that the spears were breaking around so that this resolution was not interpreted as casus belli (a reason for declaring war). Unfortunately, such statements came from the lips of some American officials. Therefore, until the very last, we insisted that a ceasefire can only be achieved by negotiations on the ground; no cease-fire comes by decree of the Security Council

- declared the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, adding that Moscow will not allow arbitrary interpretation of the adopted document.

For his part, the Permanent Representative of Syria to the UN, Bashar Al-Jafari, said that if the militants attack the civilians, the SAR army reserves the right to respond properly.

As for the "Western partners," they, as usual, built a hypocritical circus on the blood of the Syrians from the adoption of the resolution.

So, US Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley burst out with accusations against Moscow, hysterically stating:

Waiting for the results of the negotiations, we see that the bombs continue to fall, it took 10 days to adopt this resolution. How many mothers have lost their children? .. It's about changing just a few words in the resolution, making a few comments. Syrian people should not die waiting for instructions from the Russian delegation from Moscow or discussion of the results with the Syrian side

In addition, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, imagining themselves "defenders of the Syrians", decided to write a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which they "persuade" him to support the resolution on Syria.

All this cheap snotty performance is aimed at representing the Russian Federation as the party that is allegedly guilty of the death of abstract people. At this time, very specific Syrian citizens continue to die from mortar shells, which terrorists who have landed in Eastern Ghout, “generously” fire at Damascus.

Only on February 23, militants fired more than 70 mines in the Syrian capital. February 20 as a result of the "opposition" killed 11 residents of Damascus. Terrorist attacks continue.
