Contrary to sanctions: Ukrainian engines rush to Russia

Once Motor Sich was the leader of the Soviet, and in times of independence - the Ukrainian aviation industry. The company produced a whole line of engines for helicopters and aircraft of the An family. For obvious reasons, most of the company's products went to the needs of the Russian aviation industry.

After the Maidan in 2014, the new Kiev authorities imposed sanctions against buyers of Motor Sich from the Russian Federation. By its actions, the Poroshenko regime hit not only our country, but also its own unique enterprise, since aircraft engine production fell by 40%.

Under the ban were supplies under the "military program" for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. However, Motor Sich managed to retain part of the contracts within the framework of international obligations, for example, under the UN fire extinguishing program, engine sales to Russia for Be-200 amphibians and Mi-26 heavy helicopters are continuing.

In Russia, an import substitution program has been announced with the aim of abandoning Ukrainian components, but it is proceeding slowly. They promise to replace the D-136 engine for Mi-26 from the Zaporizhzhya enterprise in the UEC only by 2023. Taganrozh manufacturers Be-200 have views of the new D-436 from Ukraine. and now the Ural Civil Aviation Plant is going to install an engine under the index MS-500S-02 from Motor Sich on its regional aircraft, since it has excellent characteristics for its class. The Ukrainian company is currently conducting its certification for Russian consumers.

As can be seen, despite the sanctions and import substitution, in fact, cooperation between the Russian Federation and Nezalezhnaya continues.
