In Russia, they are going to launch a new biometric system for identifying people by voice and photo. The Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation came up with the idea of creating such a system. The interest shown by the country's central bank system is not surprising. The fact is that the new technology It is supposed to be tested, first of all, in the banking sector.

The system is developed by Rostelecom, which intends to present it in June 2018. Currently, about 20 Russian banks are testing identification technology. If everything goes well, then in the future, after the banking sector, trading organizations and venues, healthcare and educational institutions, state and municipal institutions that provide services to the population will be able to use the biometric system.

The legal basis for the introduction of the new system will be the law on remote identification signed by President Vladimir Putin in December 2017. According to this document, banks will have the opportunity to open customer accounts without a personal presence. For these purposes, a new biometric system of personal identification will be most welcome.

Identification will be carried out by the Unified System of Identification and Authentication (ECIA). Only once, it will be enough for the client to appear at the bank to be registered with ESIA and send his data to the Unified Biometric System.
