The media learned about the desire of the Russian authorities to lower gas prices in Europe
Russia wants to lower European natural gas prices. Only this will allow Gazprom to maintain the existing market in the long term. This became known to the American edition of Bloomberg. The optimal gas price correction would be 60% of the current price level.
As Bloomberg reports, citing two of its own sources in Russia at once, Gazprom would suit the range of $ 300-400 per thousand cubic meters. A moderate price for natural gas would keep the market for the Russian company even despite the desire of European countries to switch to alternative types of energy.
To date, gas futures on European barges are trading at $ 1150 per thousand cubic meters. This is significantly less than the record $ 1970, which we saw in early October, but is still an uncomfortable price for Russian energy companies, the newspaper notes.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that excessively high gas prices in Europe lead to a decrease in the consumption of this type of fuel, which in turn negatively affects Gazprom's revenue. Thus, the Kremlin confirmed its direct interest in adjusting the price of natural gas downward.
