Who will be named the main culprit in the energy crisis?

11

An unprecedented energy crisis in Europe is growing, and the calendar winter has not even begun yet. Already, the most important sectors of the EU industry have been affected, which will undoubtedly affect the entire world the economy... Will the energy crisis end in the spring of 2022 with the arrival of heat, and who will be designated as the main culprit?

Who would have thought in the "coronavirus" 2020 that the next year 2021 would become an "energy crisis"? Now it remains only to recall with nostalgia how the cost of 1 thousand cubic meters of gas fell to the level of $ 30-40, and oil did not cost anything at all, that is, went into negative values. Now, at the price of 1200 dollars per thousand cubic meters, you will no longer surprise anyone, and after all, the winter cold has not even come yet. What will happen, say, in December? Or in January?

At Gazprom, they nod at Nord Stream 2 as a way to solve all problems. Say, just give permission, and we will fill the entire European Union with inexpensive gas. Sounds good, but the fact is that Europe itself has also begun to change, and six months or a year later, the EU will be completely different from what it is now, and its attitude towards Russia and Gazprom will also change. The severity of the difficulties that have befallen the Europeans is too great, someone must answer for this, but they are not ready to admit their share of the blame.

Quiet horror

Fertilizer producers were the first to suffer in the Old World, and they were forced to stop working due to unprofitability. It started in the UK, then the SOS signal was sent by their competitors in Norway, Germany, Austria, Lithuania, China and Ukraine. The cost of one thousand cubic meters of gas at the level of $ 1 turned out to be excessive in order to keep the fertilizer plants afloat. We should expect an increase in fertilizer prices next year and a corresponding increase in the cost of food.

Metallurgists were the second to throw out the white flag. Aluminum producer ArcelorMittal has ceased operations because the cost of electricity is twice as high as the cost of the final product. Following metallurgy, heavy industry, mechanical engineering, oil refining, production of building materials, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, etc. will suffer from the growth of tariffs for electricity, gas and metals.

Due to abnormal energy prices, dozens of energy and power supply companies began to go bankrupt. Expensive electricity, fuel and petroleum products have already led to an increase in prices for food grown in greenhouses, which, moreover, must be stored and transported. Cereals will rise in price next year.

Thus, the situation is very serious. Having started in the Old World, from an energy crisis it can turn into an economic one and spread to the whole world. Is it possible to fill it with gas from Nord Stream 2? Is not a fact. The complex of accumulated problems is already too complex and large for simple solutions.

Who is to blame?

Our detractors in the West point to Gazprom, which by its inaction is aggravating the energy crisis. However, these claims are not entirely substantiated.

At first, the Europeans themselves started an energy transition to renewable sources (RES), starting to abandon nuclear power plants and coal-fired generation.

Secondly, they themselves demanded that Gazprom switch from long-term gas supply schemes to short-term spot ones.

ThirdlyIt was Brussels itself and the leadership of individual EU countries that hindered the construction of Nord Stream 2 and the full operation of the first Nord Stream.

Among the objective factors that contributed to the formation of the energy crisis, it is worth mentioning the cold winter of 2020-2021, the low level of occupancy of European UGS facilities, as well as the rapid recovery of gas consumption in Southeast Asia.

Is Gazprom to blame? No, his actions, or rather, inaction, is just one of the factors that aggravated the problem. But is it possible to blame him for inaction, which is expressed in the unwillingness to increase gas pumping in excess of what is stipulated in the contract? The Russian company fulfills its contractual obligations, therefore, claims, in principle, can be ignored.

The mustaches themselves

Moreover, it is incorrect to accuse Gazprom of using gas supplies as a kind of "energy weapon", because Europe itself is doing the same. Less than a year after the UK's final break with the EU, Paris began blackmailing London. The Europeans recalled everything to the British: the problem of Northern Ireland, which was actualized after Brexit, and the refusal to provide French fishermen with fishing quotas, and “kidokas” with submarines for Australia. What have they done?

The fact is that the United Kingdom receives 12% of its gas and 10% of its electricity from its EU neighbors. They do not have enough of their own gas production for internal needs, they have to import the rest, and electricity goes through an underwater cable from France. Now the British were threatened to leave without these supplies, further exacerbating their economic problems.

The question is very serious. Contradictions are accumulating between yesterday's allies, and the conflict is rapidly growing. “Civilized” Europeans have clearly shown that the method of blackmail is also not alien to them. Where to them our "Gazprom" with its emphasized delicacy. All this cannot remain without consequences. Even if you start gas supplies via Nord Stream 2 right now, you will not be able to rewind it. Europe has changed, the masks have been dropped.

The crisis will not end in spring either. Even if Europe survives this winter without strong shocks, the storage facilities will be significantly empty by the spring. And we will have to pump gas for the next season. And there are no contracts, and GasProm may not increase pumping. So for the next year or two, prices will remain high.

It was often said here that if Europe refuses Russian gas, then Russia will have nothing to buy medicines, machinery and even food. And who died before? As soon as Russia stops supplying gas, oil, wood, metal and other resources for six months, Europe will die sooner than one might imagine.

In addition to fertilizers. It's just some kind of fairy tale. The EU has imposed sanctions on Belarus. And this is the largest supplier of fertilizers to Europe ... That's what life-giving sanctions are doing !!!!

Probably they mean nitrogen-containing fertilizers. And Belarus is a faster supplier of potassium fertilizers.

Quite possible. I don’t want to go online, especially since the agrarian issues are far from me.
Is there a difference in nitrogen and potash fertilizers? Which ones are important for agriculture?

They do not have enough of their own gas production for internal needs, they have to import the rest, and electricity goes through an underwater cable from France.

The author somehow optimistically described the position of the WB.
In fact, things are much worse. This time the Englishwoman shit on herself, but the Lord additionally marked the rogue.
The World Bank got in touch with RES in full. Including with wind turbines in the North Sea. There has been a long and hopeless calm in the North Sea.
Your gas is running out. A stranger is worth knowing how much. Plus - there are no gas storage facilities. I already wrote that UGS is a gift from the Lord. Either there are conditions in the country for it, or they are not. And do nothing.
The World Bank consumes somewhere between 74 and 77 billion cubic meters of gas per year. To ensure safety, the volume of UGS facilities should be 10% of the annual consumption. That is, in the case of the WB - about 7,5 billion cubic meters. m.
There were two UGS facilities in WB. One - at sea, in a depleted gas field. 2,4 billion. Recently it was closed because it began to leak the injected gas. And there is only one UGS facility left - 1,4 billion cubic meters.
"It will not be enough!" (WITH)
There are cables in the WB five things. From Ireland, Norway, Belgium and 2 from France. In all cases, this is a connection to another power grid, where the electricity parameters are not synchronized with the WB grid. Therefore, on each cable - VAC (DC link). The VHT is not a device, but a structure, with a price of $ 500 million. Well, there is no single power grid in Europe, like in the USSR / RF.
Cables from Ireland, Belgium and Norway are of no use now. They also have a calm in the North Sea. Therefore, there is no extra electricity.
In France, this case is all right. There renewable energy sources are carried away in moderation, but there are many nuclear power plants.
There are two cables, one is 1 GW, the other is 2 GW.
But, on the fact that 2 GW., The VHC burned down on the bank of the WB. Moreover, it was not just little things that burned down, but the whole building.
The author of the VPT is Simmens. After investigating the problem, Simmens said that in the normal mode of affairs for 4 months, but, if in Stakhanov's way, in 3 shifts, then you can keep within 2 months. For Stakhanov's pay.
The relationship with Gazprom is also not very good. When in the summer the World Bank barked at SP2 and the ground gas pipelines connected to it (like, you need to load 50%), Gazprom calmly replied: "Yes, but in that case, you will not have enough gas." WB shut up in shock.
In general, I look and my heart rejoices.

      I forgot to write.
In recent years, there has been a folk fun in the World Bank: to destroy malicious coal power plants on camera and roll out their remains with huge bulldozers. To the delight of Grete Thunberg.
Now they are scrapping up money on the last bottom of the barrel in order to bring the undamaged (apparently, through oversight and carelessness) coal power plants into working order and start them up by the beginning of the heating season.
      And where is Greta looking?

The picture of general European prosperity can be slightly supplemented.
Czech Republic, electricity prices are rising, including because of the "green". A large supplier of electricity (clients about a million Czechs) FSE, the Germans said they will save you, there will be Khaz, there will be Liktricity, just don't call, they've got it already. All is well, everyone is calm, getting ready for Christmas.

Bohemia Energy has gone bankrupt. Czechs don't need to worry about gas and electricity supplies.

Energy was the largest supplier of alternative energy in the entire Czech Republic, serving nearly 1 million consumers. The company said it was "forced to take the plunge" to close due to rapid and extreme increases in wholesale electricity prices. The Czech energy market is now facing an unprecedented situation: over the next six months, so-called “providers of last resort” must serve affected households.

Addressing the Czech public after the collapse of Bohemia Energy, Prime Minister Andrei Babiš took the same tone. “The most important thing to know is that people have nothing to worry about,” he said at a hastily convened press conference on Wednesday.

The “suppliers of last resort” are the German companies E.ON and Innogy, or the Prague municipal electricity and gas companies, PRE and Pražská plynárenská, as well as the largest state-owned energy company ČEZ to date.

ČEZ spokesman Ladislav Kříž said the utility could accommodate some 400 former Bohemia Energy customers, but acknowledged that all suppliers would need to strengthen their capacity.

“ČEZ is ready to act as a supplier of last resort. We have performed this task several times in the past. Although these were smaller suppliers, we are certainly ready to fill this role now. But, of course, we need to strengthen our current capabilities. "

E.ON spokeswoman Martina Slavikova said the German giant is also ready to take on this role, while urging people to “stay calm and carry on” - and stop calling the company's support team.

The electricity price on the exchange has risen 190 percent over the past 12 months. Heating is going to be significantly more expensive this winter - prices will jump the most year-on-year in just 13 years, not only due to rising gas and coal prices, but also due to greenhouse gas emissions - a tool to tackle yet another crisis: global warming.
