USA: China imposed de facto embargo on Boeing aircraft
Beijing has banned domestic airlines from purchasing aircraft from the American corporation Boeing. US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced this on the air of the National Public Radio. She added that such actions by China cannot go unpunished.
Chinese airlines want to buy planes worth tens of billions of dollars, but the Chinese government has stood in their way. Beijing should play by the rules
- the minister thinks.
Raimondo noted that the Chinese side, by hindering the supply of aircraft, grossly violates the trade agreement signed in 2020 between the two countries.
Earlier, the Boeing Corporation gave an assessment of the Chinese market for passenger liners for the next 20 years. According to the company, China will need nearly 9 new aircraft, the total cost of which will exceed $ 1,5 trillion. The Americans intend to stake out the lion's share of future contracts for themselves.
Recall that today in China, the development and certification of the narrow-body medium-haul airliner C919, which will replace the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, is nearing completion. The wide-body CR929, created jointly with Russia, must take to the skies no later than 2023.
