"With the use of night vision devices": The footage of the night landing of airborne troops at the exercises "West-2021" is shown

On September 9, the joint strategic exercises (SSU) "West-2021" started. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed unique footage of the night landing of soldiers of the unit and equipment Pskov airborne forces during the said maneuvers.

According to the military department, the paratroopers from Pskov for the first time in the history of the Russian airborne forces carried out the landing of equipment "using night vision devices." It is specified that 600 servicemen and 9 armored vehicles were involved in the operation.



The landing was carried out using Il-76MD aircraft from an altitude of about 1 km in adverse weather conditions.



According to the details, the landing took place according to the command's plan. The paratroopers successfully landed and, with the help of armored vehicles, seized the airfield of the mock enemy, organizing the defense of the object until the main forces arrived. After that, the soldiers made a 100 km march to the Strugi Krasnye training ground (military unit 07264) in the Pskov region.

At the mentioned training ground, the fighters still have to work out a number of activities. For example, raiding and airborne assault operations to capture a convenient line, destroy newly identified objects and firing points of a simulated enemy, as well as elements of maneuvering defense and holding a section of the state border when attempting to invade. Exercises "West-2021" will last until September 16.
