Kazakhstan has expressed a categorical refusal to transfer "Buran" to Russia
General Director of RKK Baikonur JSC Dauren Musa, who owns two samples of Soviet spacecraft-rocket gliders "Buran", criticized the intention of NPO Molniya to return the devices to Russia.
Let us remind you that today at the Baikonur cosmodrome there is a flight prototype and a mock-up of the Buran reusable spacecraft developed by the Molniya NPO. The unique device made its first and only unmanned flight in the fall of 1988. Two years later, work on the program was suspended, and in 1995 the project was completely closed.
The only one flying into space "Buran" was destroyed in 2002 as a result of the collapse of the roof of the assembly and testing complex, where it was stored at Baikonur. However, there are still two samples left at the cosmodrome (flight and model), which belong to a private person, Dauren Musa.
At the beginning of this year, the authorities of Kazakhstan tried to return the "Soviet heritage" to the museum. However, the Almaty court refused to satisfy the state's claim.
At the beginning of this month, representatives of the NGO Molniya announced their intention to transport the surviving flight prototype and model of "Buran" to Russia. The research and production association declares the deplorable state of both vehicles and the need to take measures to ensure the safety of the unique machines.
Dauren Musa wrote on his Facebook that he considers the visit of representatives of the NGO Molniya to be "an imitation of violent activity." He is sure that Russian ships are needed to continue work on the Energia-Buran program, and not to preserve the heritage.
At the same time, the businessman stressed that no one bought the ship from him and he was not going to return it. According to Musa, he does not rule out filing lawsuits in international courts in order to finally stop this "lawlessness".
On the eve of the loud statements of the owner of "Buranov" answered the head of "Roscosmos" Dmitry Rogozin. The functionary assured Dauren Musa that no one would export unique ships to the Russian Federation without the permission of the Kazakh authorities. At the same time, he advised the businessman to take a more responsible attitude towards the “priceless property” that fell into his hands, which is in a deplorable state, instead of writing nasty things about the Russian rocket and space industry.
Finally, Rogozin assigned all responsibility for the safety of the unique vehicles to Musa and expressed the hope that the judicial authorities would still decide to transfer the Burans into more caring hands.
