The Su-30SM fighter will be turned into a full-fledged fifth-generation aircraft

17

Russia is embarking on a deep modernization of its most massive Su-30SM fighter. The goal of the program is to bring the aircraft performance characteristics to the level of fifth-generation combat vehicles.

It should be noted that our Su-30SM today is already one of the best fighters in the world. However, despite its excellent characteristics, the aircraft is gradually becoming obsolete.

In this regard, a decision was made in Russia to radically modernize the winged aircraft. At the same time, it was originally planned to confine itself to replacing the engine with a 117S power plant from the SU-35S. However, then the modernization program was decided to expand somewhat.

The Su-30SM2 "Super Sukhoi" version, to which all the Su-30SMs in service will be upgraded, in addition to the 117S engine, will also receive the latest multi-channel integrated communication, data exchange, navigation and identification system. This will allow the aircraft to communicate with the UAV and maintain high-speed contact with ground control stations.

In addition, the second version of the Su-30SM will "inherit" from the Su-35 and the radar system, which will not only increase the detection range, but also allow the use of the latest weapons, including high-precision guided bombs and missiles.

Thus, in fact, "Super-dry" from just a good fighter of the 4+ generation becomes a full-fledged combat vehicle of the fifth generation. Formally, it differs from the latter only by the “dubious” characteristic of radar stealth in modern realities.

At the same time, the deep modernization of the Su-30SM will ensure the unification of the maintenance of the entire fleet of aircraft, including the Su-35 and even the promising Su-75.

Still, the onboard radar "Irbis" was upgraded to a version equipped with AFAR.

So on the Su-35 radar with AFAR and costs

from domestic fighter airborne radar with AFAR is only on one plane - Su-57

    Yes, noodles are indiscriminate, alas.
The 5th generation - classically - is stealth and cruising supersonic.
    not a word about it.

And here is announced the upgrade of the electronics and the engine to the level of SU35.
    was 4+, now 4 ++
Which is good, of course, but occasional lies spoils everything.

Swarm control, which is being announced as part of the 6th generation, is also not yet available.

USA with its F35 disagree with you
Although he cannot go into supersonic, he nevertheless appears everywhere as the 5th generation.

Taki wrote on VO, which is already possible, only quietly ...
And so, it seems, the Americans themselves consider him 5-.

In general, something to compare with the F35 - how to "mislead" readers, since that small, light, (one and a half times smaller) single-engine, single-pilot pot-bellied bomber. (With the prefix "fighter" to save money)

        maybe just quietly ...

as if nowhere is it agreed that the afterburner supersonic should be 2, 2,5 or 3 Mach.
By the way, the ancient "violinist" Tu-128 also knew how, at high altitude. The plane confidently passed at maximum through the sound barrier, then the pilots "cleaned up" the gas and went at low supersonic speed at economical revs.

For 5th generation aircraft, "cruising supersonic" is not so cruising. The same Su-57, as stated, can travel 2800 km on cruising subsonic, and 2,5 times less distance on non-afterburning supersonic.

Yes, this is understandable, subsonic is more economical everywhere, just 3 times in distance, 6 times in fuel (it was the example of the performance characteristics of missiles).

It is simply not advertised that the old afterburner supersonic is short, up to 40 minutes, on different aircraft.
And then the engine can see the northern fox ...

The second person already writes to you about this. Of course, all the same there are liars around if they say something that your "little world" does not fit)
Initially, Lightning had limitations, incl. and for this mode, due to the risk of damage to the coating (just something!) in the tail section - but only in versions B (VTOL for the KMP) and C (deck version for the Navy), version A for the Air Force does not suffer from such a disadvantage. Based on the results of improvements, restrictions on the modes of piloting and use from aircraft are removed.
You should have been at least in the subject before using the keys pyts - pyts ... wassat
