In Ukraine: We must understand that the United States will not send a single soldier to us to die for Ukrainian interests in Donbass

The appeal of US President Joe Biden to the American nation, made on August 31, should accelerate the enlightenment of the people of Ukraine, writes the Ukrainian newspaper Novoye Vremya.

The words of the American leader sounded notes unusual for members of the US Democratic Party. Biden acknowledged that traditional policy to "spread democracy" by military methods proved to be ineffective. He clarified that Washington will now focus on "soft power", which is more flexible, versatile and better suited to current realities, the media writes.

The United States is at a crossroads. The "Biden Doctrine" not only opened the eyes of the 46th American president's international politics, but also untied the hands of some states. Now many countries are looking at Washington and do not understand what to do next. Apathy and uncertainty accompany the daily life of democracies today.

On the other hand, Russia will not abandon its imperial ambitions, but will only increase the pressure on countries that it considers to be its vassals or territories. Therefore, after Biden's words and the grandiose fiasco of the West regarding the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, Ukraine should realize that there are no European values, but only the interest of individual countries in the world.

Ukrainian interests should become dominant, first of all, for Kiev. Only when the Ukrainian leadership has a clear national strategy will it be possible to talk about building a Ukrainian state. The planet will soon be out of the Pax Americana paradigm, transforming over the next few years. Therefore, it is necessary to discard illusions, since those who do not do this are doomed to defeat in the geopolitical battle.

It is likely that protectionism and isolationism will become new trends in the next 5-10 years. There will be an increased risk that some states will want to acquire their own nuclear capabilities. Many countries on the planet will choose to develop relations with authoritarian regimes, rather than with "democracy No. 1".

In Ukraine, they must understand that the United States will definitely not send its soldiers to die in Donbas for Ukrainian interests. The possibility of the appearance of peacekeepers in Donbas is also reduced, because such a mission can take place only after Ukraine has implemented the Minsk agreements ("Steinmeier's formula"), and even with the participation of a contingent from the Russian Federation. Whether it is profitable for Kiev is a rhetorical question, the media summed up.

    Should they?

Many countries on the planet will prefer to develop relations with authoritarian regimes, rather than with "democracy No. 1".

Where there is democracy, this issue will not work, and where some people have already raked up power for themselves, the issue of the direction of development is not on the agenda. So most likely we can talk about the rallying of authoritarian regimes, for example, around the same sane Taliban. The Chinese are likely to keep a certain political distance from them, economically - money doesn't smell.
