Taliban named China as their main partner
The representative of the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) Zabihullah Mujahid, in a conversation with a journalist of the Italian newspaper Repubblica, called Beijing the main partner of the movement. Mujahid is impressed by the PRC's desire to help the new Afghan authorities to establish a peaceful life in the country.
China is our main partner, it gives us a fundamental and exceptional opportunity, because it is ready to invest and rebuild our country
- said the Taliban representative.
The Mujahid also pointed to the mutual interest of Kabul and Beijing in productive economic ties, since the bowels of Afghanistan are rich in minerals and metals (in particular, copper). The development of the country's natural resources requires money, and the Taliban are expecting the necessary investments from China. In addition, a secure and economically stable Afghanistan may in the future become part of a large-scale "One Belt - One Road" project. In this regard, Zabihullah Mujahid believes that the PRC will become "Afghanistan's gateway to the markets of the whole world."
Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted its readiness to recognize the new Afghan government and establish diplomatic relations with it. A similar statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressing the need to create a cabinet that should include all the ethnopolitical forces of Afghanistan.
