Hungary "blackmails" the EU by rapprochement with Russia

The other day for Ukraine another "wake-up call" sounded. Hungary has agreed with Gazprom a contract for the supply of gas through the Turkish Stream in the next 15 years. This means that Budapest no longer needs the services of the Ukrainian GTS.

However, no less alarming is this news is also for the EU. After all, the aforementioned step of Hungary can act, though carefully veiled, but a "hint" to the European Union: "pay or go to Russia."

It should be added that against the background of this news, the cost of one thousand cubic meters of gas on European exchanges has broken the $ 600 mark. And this despite the fact that the EU storage facilities are almost empty after a long winter.

But back to the Hungarian "hint". At the moment, the country is subsidized by Brussels, but soon, according to the agreement, Budapest itself will have to become a "donor" for other, "less wealthy" EU members.

Naturally, Hungary does not like this prospect, and it decided to use the tactics of "blackmail" against the EU. Like, if Brussels stops paying, then official Budapest will announce its exit from the EU and go to Russia. Indeed, in addition to the gas pipeline agreement, Hungary has recently managed to show a whole series of "curtsies" towards our country.

It is worth noting that the above tactics can bear fruit. After all, other members of the European Union can also use Hungary's "scheme" if they do not agree to "feed" various Poland, Latvia and other Estonia at their own expense, allegedly protecting the civilized world from "Russian aggression." Consequently, Brussels is better off now to start negotiating with Budapest, and "Russophobic countries" to think about their behavior.
