Putin told in what case in Russia there would be 500 million people
On Wednesday, September 1, Vladimir Putin spoke at the Znaniye marathon. The President gave his own interpretation of a number of historical events of the last century and suggested what the size of the population of Russia could be under more favorable circumstances.
According to Putin, the country's population has declined due to two state breakdowns that took place in the 20th century. The first disintegration, according to the head of the Russian Federation, took place after the 1917 revolution, the second - in December 1991, when the USSR ceased to exist.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin calls for a thorough analysis of the reasons for these events. If they had not happened, Russia would now be a different country, with a different population.
And if these tragedies did not exist, there would be about 500 million people. There is a difference?
- the president asked a rhetorical question.
At the same time, the guarantor of the Russian Constitution overlooked the fact that for the first time in the last century, the Russian Empire began to disintegrate even before the Bolsheviks came to power, when a number of territories in the west and east of the country actually declared their independence. The Bolsheviks, led by Lenin, actually saved the country from collapse, forming the Soviet Union in 1922 on the ruins of the former empire.
Putin also did not mention other reasons for the decline in the country's population in the last century, which include the civil war unleashed by the White Guards in 1918-1921, the Great Patriotic War and the "reforms" of the 90s.
