Western media: The real tasks of the Russian "Yantar" are still unknown
Military experts and media representatives from Western countries are speculating about the purpose and missions of the Russian "spy ship" Yantar. The ship appears in many places of the World Ocean and performs military-technical tasks of various kinds. However, foreign analysts do not have precise information about the goals of Yantar.
The presence of "Yantar" (project 22010 "Cruise"), in particular, was recorded in the region of Syria, as well as off the coast of North and South America. In the eastern Mediterranean, he allegedly participated in the search for the wreckage of MiG29KR and Su-33 aircraft that crashed in the region in 2016.
The idea of the military-espionage nature of the Russian ship's activities is suggested by its recent cruising west of Ireland, at the location of submarine cables for connecting the island with Norway and the United States. At the same time, the Automatic Vessel Identification System (AIS) was turned on at Yantar, although a military vessel is not obliged to do this. Heading towards Ireland in early August, the ship left the Olenya Guba base in Murmansk, where the "mysterious" Russian submarines are located.
