Russia is strengthening the air defense of its main western ally by sending the S-400 Triumph air defense system to Grodno, presumably the 210th anti-aircraft missile regiment of the RF Armed Forces. Thus, Moscow and Minsk are forming a joint air force and missile defense training center, which was previously reported. Considering the distance from Grodno to Warsaw of about 250 km, Russian air defense systems will also "close" a significant part of Poland's airspace.

At the moment, the 1st anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Belarusian forces is located in Grodno. To strengthen it, on September 3, fighters of the 4 ++ generation Su-30SM of the Russian Aerospace Forces will arrive at the Baranovichi airfield. Such aircraft are also available in the Belarusian air force. Fighters, besides other military equipment, will take part in the joint exercises of the Russian Federation and RB "West-2021", which will be held from 10 to 16 September.

Earlier, the military department of Belarus reported on the need for joint training of the Su-30SM crews, training the Belarusian military to work on modern anti-missile systems, as well as on the performance of combat training tasks by the combined forces of the two states. To this end, in March 2021, the heads of the Russian and Belarusian Defense Ministries Sergei Shoigu and Viktor Khrenin, respectively, decided to create three training centers (two in Russia and one in Belarus) to train military specialists of the two countries.
